Overview

Richard Engel is a Consultant. A good deal of his time is spent helping clients to organise their affairs, advising on their Wills and planning how to avoid family disputes. The rest of his time is spent dealing with the trickier commercial transactions and business and property disputes.

Background and Experience

Richard did his Articles (now called training contract) with the firm and qualified in 1970. He learnt his law at his father’s knee (as well as Sheffield University) including the founding principles of the firm which are to put the client’s best interests at the heart of everything we do. As the elder statesman in the firm, with a huge amount of experience in many different areas, he is the first port of call for members of staff seeking a shrewd perspective or an experienced judgement call on a tricky problem.

Richard formally retired at the end of 2020 but will remain associated with the firm to continue to provide the benefit of his experience and wisdom.
