Supporting those around us, all the time

Our commitment to the community

At Max Engel Solicitors, we believe that being part of the community means more than simply providing legal services. Community means giving back, staying connected, and supporting those around us. With roots in Northampton dating back to 1949, we have always considered ourselves not just a law firm, but a neighbour, a friend, and a trusted advisor to the people and organisations of our communities.

We are proud to devote time and resources to community-facing initiatives which reflect our values of service, respect and care for others.

After moving our offices to Wootton in March 2025, we’ve found ourselves part of an even greater and more vibrant community. The warm welcome from local residents, businesses and community groups has reaffirmed our belief in the importance of staying connected to the people we serve. Being based in Wootton allows us to build closer ties and support local groups, something we value deeply as a longstanding Northampton firm.

Why choose us to support you;

Our personal service and attention is one of our key strengths. We take pride in our compassion, and our friendly and approachable team, which maintains absolute professionalism. The team is small enough to offer a rare degree of personal attention, but large enough to have the necessary expertise specialism and infrastructure to assist whatever your legal issue. We recognise that building a strong, lasting relationship with your solicitor (who is preparing your Will for example or helping to sell your business) is hugely important, and having trust in the individual is paramount given the personal nature of what we need to discuss, so that is our focus as a team and as a firm.

Whether it’s explaining the complexities of legal areas (such as commercial issues, disputes, probate and estate administration, trusts or estate planning, buying or selling your home or investment property), offering clear guidance on legal documents (including claim forms, contracts, grants of probate, LPAs or trust documents), or simply being there for a chat, we aim to provide reassurance, clarity and support when it matters most.

Our promise to the community

We are proud of our 75 year heritage and long history of service. Not just as solicitors, but as active neighbours and supporters of the communities we serve.

Whether you need practical legal advice, a friendly chat, or simply want to learn more about what we do, we’re here.

At Max Engel Solicitors, you don’t just become a client. You become part of our community. Our message is the same as it was 75 years ago: We’re on your side.

Supporting local clubs & community groups

We believe in supporting all of our local community, including those who are vulnerable or those facing or contemplating future challenging times. That’s why we work alongside local senior clubs, community centres and voluntary community groups to deliver talks and workshops on topics chosen by them. We know how important it is to reach out and ensure that people get the right advice tailored and personal to them, from trusted professionals; whether they then use us as a firm, or even if it’s just a nudge to point them in the direction of their own qualified and insured legal advisors. If you are involved in any community group and would like to arrange a talk please contact our talk team: talk@maxengel.co.uk.

Why this matters to us;

  • It’s personal. Many of our team members live in or around Northampton and have long-standing personal ties to the town and the community. We understand local issues and know first-hand the difference that access to the right advice from a trusted professional can make.

  • Service with a human touch. Our firm has built a reputation on personal service and long-term relationships. Extending support beyond the office is a natural extension of our ethos.

  • Prevention over cure. We believe in helping people take the right steps for them and seeking advice early can help to avoid problems later on. Whether that’s buying or selling a home or business, endeavouring to resolve a personal or business dispute, preparing a Will, assisting with managing the estate of a deceased loved one, or planning for the future, that first important step of taking advice is key. Knowledge and planning can prevent or minimise future problems.

  • Building a stronger community. By supporting charitable causes, liaising with local organisations, and sharing knowledge, we hope to contribute toward a stronger, more informed, more caring community for everyone.

What we do: Community initiatives

Free talks & advice sessions

Rebecca Walker, our Head of the Private Client Department, offers talks as part of our commitment to supporting the community. Her sessions focus on a central message: the importance of trusted legal advice and ensuring your affairs are in order

Other members of our team will often hold sessions in Wootton Community Centre and other locations offering availability for informal preliminary discussions and our experts are available for a free chat to discuss whatever concerns or issues you might have or to see whether we can assist you.

The goal is always the same: to help people gain peace of mind through proactive, thoughtful planning. These sessions give people a friendly, face-to-face opportunity to ask questions in a relaxed, non-judgmental environment. The sessions can be a one-off presentation, or part of a series of mini talks, covering key areas.
